What is JAMS Pathways?
JAMS Pathways offers early conflict resolution services, helping organizations address workplace issues before they escalate. Skilled facilitators create safe spaces for difficult conversations and develop solutions to support organizational goals.
What types of services does JAMS Pathways offer?
JAMS Pathways offers a range of services including:
- Conflict Prevention & Management: Early intervention in team or organizational conflicts and dynamics assessments.
- Facilitated Dialogues: Neutral facilitation of difficult conversations, including restorative processes.
- Strategic Consulting: Guidance on leadership, change management, and building constructive workplace cultures.
- Training & Development: Customized workshops and skill-building for communication, conflict resolution, and bias awareness.
- Neutral Facilitation: Third-party support for sensitive workplace matters and structured feedback sessions.
What is the first step in conflict resolution?
The first step in conflict resolution, as utilized in our Conflict Prevention & Resolution Program, is a Preliminary Assessment, which is finding the source of conflict. This involves an in-depth review of the work culture, interviewing or surveying key stakeholders to understand the organizational goals and uncover potential impediments to team success.
What makes JAMS Pathways different?
JAMS Pathways helps organizations prevent and resolve conflict before it escalates. Backed by JAMS' 40+ years of experience, its expert facilitators offer customized, live programs that foster dialogue and deliver tailored solutions—demonstrating a serious commitment to addressing challenges effectively.
How is JAMS Pathways different than traditional ADR services provided by JAMS?
JAMS Pathways is an early conflict resolution service that helps you prevent or solve workplace problems before they cause serious harm to your organization or require a formal process like arbitration, mediation or litigation.
Are conflict management skills only for managers or leadership?
Definitely not! Equipping team members at all levels of an organization to handle and address conflict gives the best results. Training together builds a shared vocabulary and establishes the intention and foundation for productive communication. This allows you to resolve conflict early and economically, before larger segments of your organization are affected.
What’s the right way to resolve conflict in the workplace?
JAMS Pathways understands that every conflict is unique, so solutions must be tailored—not one-size-fits-all. While grounded in proven dispute resolution methods, each approach is customized to fit your organization. Involving an experienced, neutral third party leads to better outcomes and signals a commitment to fairness and real change.
How much do JAMS Pathways services cost?
Our pricing is as customized as our services, which are tailored to your specific needs. Cost will vary, depending on whether you select a one-and-done training or a multi-phased program of conflict prevention and resolution. Our team will work closely with you to create a program that will serve your organization’s needs at a price you can afford.
What qualifications and experience do the JAMS Pathways facilitators have?
JAMS Pathways facilitators are leaders in conflict resolution with diverse backgrounds as mediators, educators, lawyers, and trainers. They bring deep knowledge in areas like psychology, negotiation, law, culture, and DEI, blending their experience into a multidisciplinary approach that addresses both human behavior and organizational dynamics.
How quickly can JAMS Pathways help with our needs?
We do our best to accommodate the needs of each client, and that includes being sensitive to your schedule. Working with JAMS Pathways can take anywhere from a couple of weeks (to plan and conduct a one-day training) to several months (for a multi-phased intervention). We collaborate with you to balance the need for speed with what we know works best.
Will working with JAMS Pathways make our conflict public?
JAMS Pathways training and other interventions are private. We strive to create a safe space to solve problems, and that starts with assurances that we will maintain your confidentiality before, during and after our work together.
Can JAMS Pathways handle tough, long-term issues in any size organization?
JAMS Pathways believes every conflict has a solution, regardless of an organization’s size or the issue's complexity. Projects are scaled to fit each client’s needs, with larger engagements supported by coordinated teams. As part of JAMS, Pathways has access to a broad network of skilled facilitators and has successfully served both small nonprofits and global corporations.
Why is customized live training preferable to lower-cost recorded options?
When time for training is limited, keeping your team engaged is key. Recorded videos often lead to distractions and multitasking, while live speakers can hold attention with stories, questions, and interaction. Plus, live training can be customized to address your team’s specific needs—making the session more relevant, focused, and a better use of everyone’s time.
What should I expect from conflict resolution skills training?
Our first step is to work with you to clarify your training goals. We’ll talk about your team, your business, and the challenges you’re facing. Based on your needs, we offer customizable training on topics like team management, inclusive workplaces, better meetings, negotiation, psychological safety, and more. Whenever possible, we include interactive sessions so participants can practice what they learn.
How can JAMS Pathways help prevent conflicts before they occur?
Bringing in JAMS Pathways shows your commitment to creating a safe, respectful workplace where everyone’s voice matters. Our programs help teams learn how to handle tough conversations early, and we also help build systems to spot and address conflicts before they grow.
Why might “training” not be enough to fix the problems my organization is experiencing?
Most conflicts we address in the PATH program have built up over months or years. While training helps lay the groundwork, these issues are complex and can’t be solved overnight. That’s why we use a multi-phase approach—designed to go deeper than training alone and create lasting change.
How long does the JAMS Pathways PATH process typically take?
Since our services are tailored, there’s no fixed timeline. A typical PATH program has four phases: Assessment, Early Intervention, Workshops and Conversations, and Planning Next Steps. We’ll work with you to decide what’s needed and create a schedule that fits your organization.
